FIRST INDOOR CUSTOM BIKE SHOW COMING TO LAKELAND
This First Ever Lakeland event will be a combination of some of the hottest looking custom motorcycle designs around, but in the coolest of surroundings. Never mind the Florida summer heat or rain because this show will be a one-of-a kind indoor cycle shows that will deliver. Mark your calendars for June 22nd when the RP Funding Center will be opening its doors to the public from 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. for the first annual Central Florida Wheels of Steel custom bike show.
Sheriff Grady Judd has endorsed the event as a good opportunity to remind the community that safe motorcycle riding is important for everyone. Operation Chair of the event, Lieutenant Tony Allaire from the Polk County Sheriff’s office will ensure that their message of “Riding the Right Way” will help promote the safety aspects of operating a motorcycle. Lakeland Regional Health will be donating helmets to the first 100 children that arrive.
“The Early Learning Coalition of Polk County is a wonderful organization committed to improving the lives of Polk County’s children and families—something that is near and dear to our hearts,” said Judd. “The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit is proud to participate in this event as well, to help promote biker safety, and of course to check out some awesome custom bikes!”
It is being presented by GEICO—a company committed to supporting efforts that build stronger communities.
“At GEICO, we believe education is the bedrock of success,” said Senior Vice President Pionne Corbin. “We are pleased to support the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County in its mission to prepare our children for bright futures and presenting a custom bike show is a natural fit for us.”
The event will showcase a variety of innovative designs brought in from top motorcycle builders who will be showing off their unique wheels and steel artistry. Cycle enthusiasts of all ages will have the chance to see over a hundred customized models in this family friendly event.
All the proceeds will benefit the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County that serves over 12,000 children annually. CEO Dr. Marc Hutek believes it’s a cause worth supporting.
“So many biker enthusiasts carry a great love for children and we look forward to their support. Events as this support those in our community that need it the most and the very nature of this kind of support will change the lives of our youngest for the better,” said Hutek.
The event’s operation committee co-chair Jason Hallman promises the event will be one to remember for fans of custom motorcycle designs. He will be welcoming renowned builders such as Kory Souza from Sarasota and Cody Childress of Abilene, Texas. Two other builders, Eric Allard of Lakeland and Tom Keller from South Florida will also be appearing.
“This event will become Central Florida’s premier motorcycle event with over a hundred custom motorcycles, builders and vendors—all under one roof.” said Hallman.
Tony Cianci of “Full Throttle” magazine will be emceeing the event pairing up with a special guest radio deejay Mike Lee from MAX 98.3 FM radio. Further entertainment will be provided by Tony Trotti, a local artist known for his speed paintings that are created during a specially selected song.
The day’s agenda will also include a unique rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” that will be performed on the electric violin by Stephanie Ann, an international entertainer who has worked with legends such as Tony Bennett, Smoky Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Bill Anderson, and Kenny Rogers. She will be performing throughout the day. There will also be hourly prize drawings and a chance to win a 50/50 jackpot.
The day will close with trophies being awarded to winners in each custom motorcycle competitor category. Local Lakeland motorcycle builder Brian Buttera who recently won a Best in Show in Zurich, Switzerland and in Abu Dhabi will be judging the Best in Show for the competition. One other final highlight of the day will include the ticket drawing for the winner of a 2019 custom built Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle. It will be announced by Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz who will be pulling the lucky ticket.
The event will offer attendees a variety of vendors along with food and drink concessions and a cash bar provided by the RP Funding Center. Cost to attend the event will be $20 per adult with free parking. Ages 13-17 will be $5 and children under 12 are free.
